KFhello

Greetings! I am eager to learn about you and what you are doing in the exciting world of aviation education. Let me introduce myself so that we can get this collaboration started.

My name is Kelly Filgo (he/him/his) and I am an experienced leader and practitioner in aviation education, especially in the maintenance arena. I’ve worked with students, faculty, administrators, and government agencies for over ten years in multiple venues. I’m ready to use that experience to help your organization attain its goals.

Basically, I am a huge aviation nerd with an unbound enthusiasm for seeing people catch a vision of themselves as an aviation professional. That vision leads to adventure, self-agency, and a better life for their families. The opportunities are abundant and I want to help your organization participate in this exciting work.

In addition to extensive leadership in aviation programs, I hold a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration and a master’s certificate in Higher Education Assessment and Institutional Research, both from Sam Houston State University. My time at Sam Houston taught me to be an active scholar-practitioner in education, meaning that the two disciplines are interdependent and necessary to function effectively. I believe that evidenced-based action born out of meaningful collaboration is the best way to move an organization or project forward.

I’ve served on the board of directors for the Aviation Technician Education Council (ATEC) since 2018. With ATEC, I have chaired an annual conference, presented at multiple conferences, and lobbied in Washington D.C. on behalf of Part 147 aviation maintenances schools. In my service on the board at ATEC and in other organizations, I have experience analyzing and approving budgets and fund management strategies.
